Headscratcher #7: Shine some light on the situation

Jabsco is part of ITT’s Marine & Leisure family of companies, which today includes Rule, Flojet, HydroAir, Danforth, LVM and Sudbury. Jabsco is a worldwide leading manufacturer of products for the leisure marine market, including water systems, engine cooling pumps, searchlights and marine waste systems.

THE CHALLENGE
ITT’s searchlights were wired at the helm, restricting the operator’s movement. ITT wanted to add the convenience of wireless control to their OEM searchlights and provide an aftermarket product as a retrofit. They required a wireless system that was easy to install and was compatible with their existing wired controls.

THE SOLUTION
Delta and ITT worked through the many nuances of the electrical system to design a rugged and reliable wireless control for their various lights. Delta’s FreeRein™ wireless system provides 8-way movement of the light, on/off functionality and the ability to switch from spot to flood mode. The system was tested and validated to meet a variety of demanding ITT specifications. FreeRein™ solution offers the command and convenience to control the light from anywhere on the boat or from the adjacent dock to illuminate a path. Together, Delta and ITT came up with a great solution to a common problem in the marine industry.
Ken LeBlanc
Senior Product Manager
“Working with Delta Systems on the RF Searchlight development project was a pleasure. We found their approach to the task management of design, development, testing and manufacturing of the wireless remote control system to be professional and comprehensive. All application-specific performance requirements were met and even exceeded. Particularly appreciated were the efforts by the Delta Systems Design Team to fully understand “how” the wireless remote control would be used by our customers, which provided to us a “mature” feature-rich design, free of problems.”
